Lo scorso 22 luglio, un gruppo di 19 ragazzi provenienti da 16 diversi Paesi (Islanda, Norvegia, Serbia, Ungheria, Germania, Finlandia, Albania, Slovenia, Austria, Danimarca, Turchia, Italia, Estonia, Ucraina, Spagna) sono stati ospitati dal Lions Club di Pescia a Collodi e hanno visitato il Parco di Pinocchio ed il Giardino di Villa Garzoni, grazie anche al contributo della Fondazione Nazionale “Carlo Collodi” che ha generosamente offerto gli ingressi per le visite e messo a disposizione una guida.

I ragazzi presenti da diversi giorni in Toscana, fanno parte del programma Campo Toscana Giovani “La via Francigena” nato con l’obiettivo del superamento delle frontiere, all’interno del Lions Club International. Questi scambi giovanili esistono dal 1961 e “sono finalizzati a permettere a giovani di tutto il mondo, che abbiano superato i 18 anni, di trascorrere del tempo all’estero con, a loro carico, solo il costo del biglietto aereo”. L’obiettivo è quello di farli venire a contatto con altre culture, sostenendoli nel compiere una esperienza di viaggio in Paesi diversi dal proprio. Le sedi a ciò destinate sono più di 100, in oltre 40 diverse nazioni e la Toscana partecipa al programma dal 1988. Questa esperienza è ripresa quest’anno dopo due anni di interruzione dovuta alla pandemia da Covid 19.

I ragazzi, insieme ai loro tutor, sono stati ricevuti al loro arrivo da alcuni componenti lo staff del Presidente del Lions Club di Pescia Lorenzo Natucci, tra questi Maurizio Sonnoli e Marco Borgioli che, insieme ad altri soci, hanno dato loro il benvenuto a nome del Club e quindi è iniziata la visita al Parco di Pinocchio. Successivamente i ragazzi sono stati accompagnati a visitare quello straordinario esempio del gusto e della cultura toscana del 700 che è il giardino di Villa Garzoni, completando poi il percorso con la visita alla Butterfly House. La visita si è conclusa con un saluto a tavola in onore dei ragazzi.

A great experience for the Lions Club of Pescia (Province of Pistoia-Tuscany-Italy): European boys at the Toscana Youth Camp “La via Francigena”

On 22 July, a group of 19 young people from 16 different countries (Iceland, Norway, Serbia, Hungary, Germany, Finland, Albania, Slovenia, Austria, Denmark, Turkey, Italy, Estonia, Ukraine, Spain) were hosted by the Lions Club of Pescia in Collodi and visited the Park of Pinocchio and the Garden of Villa Garzoni, thanks also to the contribution of the National Foundation “Carlo Collodi” (Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi – Pinocchio) which generously offered admissions for visits and made available a touristic guide.

The boys present for several days in Tuscany, are part of the “Campo Toscana Giovani” program called “La via Francigena” born with the aim of overcoming borders, within the Lions Club International. These youth exchanges have existed since 1961 and “are aimed at allowing young people from all over the world, who are over the age of 18, to spend time abroad with, at their expense, only the cost of the flight tickets”. The goal is to make them come into contact with other cultures, supporting them in having a travel experience in countries other than their own. There are more than 100 locations for this purpose, in over 40 different countries and Tuscany has participated in the program since 1988. This experience resumed this year after two years of interruption due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

The boys, together with their tutors, were received on their arrival by some members of the staff of the President of the Lions Club of Pescia Mr. Lorenzo Natucci, including Maurizio Sonnoli and Marco Borgioli who, together with other members, welcomed them in the name of the Club and then the visit to the Pinocchio Park began. The boys were then accompanied to visit that extraordinary example of 18th century Tuscan taste and culture which is the Gardens of Villa Garzoni, then completing the tour with a visit to the Butterfly House museum. The visit ended with a greeting at a farewell dinner, for the boys.
